  2. The tray is used for topical application of fluoride gel.
  3. The material allows for some flexibility of the tray, making it easier to adapt to the dental arch.
  4. Save time by being double and allow the application in both arches at the same time.

How often should you use fluoride trays?

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends a professional fluoride treatment at your dentist’s office every 3, 6, or 12 months, depending on your oral health. If you’re at high risk for cavities, your dentist may also prescribe a special fluoride rinse or gel to use regularly at home.

How do you use fluoride?

Place a thin ribbon of fluoride into each upper and lower fluoride tray. The fluoride can be spread with your finger, q-tip or dry toothbrush. Seat the tray into the mouth and leave in place for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes remove the trays and thoroughly spit out any residual fluoride.

How is fluoride treatment done?

PROFESSIONAL FLUORIDE TREATMENT

Professional fluoride treatments generally take just a few minutes. The fluoride may be in the form of a solution, gel, foam or varnish. Typically, it is applied with a cotton swab or brush, or it is used as a rinse or placed in a tray that is held in the mouth for several minutes.

What does fluoride gel do for teeth?

Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. It also reverses early decay.

Why can’t you brush your teeth after fluoride?

The coating will naturally wear away in that time period. In laboratory studies, Vanish White Varnish continues to release fluoride, calcium and phosphate for 24 hours. Patients should refrain from brushing or flossing their teeth for 24 hours to achieve the maximum benefit.
